This work represents the third year in a row of NYC & Company's international tourism campaign for New York City.

 

Famous Original New York City began as a way to represent the more street-level aspect of New York City, and a way to use the vernacular of the city to encourage visitors to go beyond the usual spots to explore all five boroughs.

The tagline Welcomes You Always is a testament to the city's long history of welcome, for which Lady Liberty is the eternal symbol.

The textured background and hand painted style of these posters brings to mind the wheat-pasted posters ubiquitous in the streets, whether street art or promotional bills.
